Compaction wheels, also known as sheepsfoot rollers are great tools for compressing fine grained soils such as clay. Being mounted on an excavator, and with a narrow wheel design and clubfoot lugs, these rollers can generate far more pressure and downward force than a standard hand operated roller, meaning the ground is compacted harder and quicker.
